FaceBook Uses

I am new to FaceBook and I would love to hear your FaceBook ideas, concepts and unique uses of this social network.  I am 100% sure that there are dozens of uses that I have not considered yet.  Can you tell me a couple of key benefits of using FaceBook over MySpace?  I have done some basic searches and I like the look and feel of this site and it is fairly easy to navigate and I am sure I will begin to buzz right through it once I finish updating my FaceBook profile.

I have been on Facebook for a few months and still haven't figured it out especially the poking and throwing things part.  But I've been told it is good to have a presence there in case the younger homebuyers are checking you out.  So there I am.  I'm also on twitter which is even harder to figure out.  :-)

I'm new in facebook.  I waited for a while hoping for a better face, then went ahead anyway.

I have done Facebook for a while and honestly I am about to kill my profile.

The downside to Facebook is that in order for someone to see your profile, posts or anything FB related, they have to be a member and signed in. That makes me wonder how effective it is for gaining leads.

The upside is that its easy to get alot of friends added.

I plan to spend more time concentrating my efforts where I can get out my message and gain some seo results as well.

Yep.  I agree.  Not sure of the site's potential but I just opened a page too.  We'll see if it drives any traffic to my actual site.

I'm one of the few who haven't joined Facebook, so will anxiously await your conclusions on its benefit to your business.

Does anyone have a FaceBook example that where the user has either embedded video or has provided a video link into their site?

Hi Sam,

Go to your profile page and down towards the bottom, it says "The Wall".  Then to the right, "Write on your own wall".  The below there's a "Share link" for posting photo, video or link.

I just posted a motivational YouTube video: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=507706435

Dan...my Cincinnati buddy...it is great to hear from you once again.  I appreciate you sharing your example and that is exactly the information I was looking for.  Being able to see your page and your directions were very helpful.  I am going to post a video on my FaceBook profile hopefully later tonight when I get home.  Thanks again Dan!!!  I got my FaceBook profile up and running in less than 24 hours:  http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=648471061

I did some Google searching today and I understand that as a FaceBook member I can create my our own "Group".  I am wondering if I can create a group and restrict it to subdivision members.  My idea would be to name the group "Pleasant View Acres Community" and then only invite the residents from that community to the group.  Is this something that I can easily do and if are there any tips I should be aware of?

Well I will check back once again on this one and see if there are more responses.  I too would like to know more about this.

Hi Sam,

Have you been able to specifically track any buyers or sellers coming from MySpace or Facebook?

If yes, what in particular, got them to contact you?

Dan

Yes - Myspace, bulletins/announcements and referrals from other Myspace members.  I caution that sending out bulletins out super often will frustrate people but if you do something weekly or bi weekly you should be fine.

I have been doing a bunch of reading on FaceBook and it seems like the demograpics of the average profile are higher than those of Myspace which might offer some advantages.

Nice profile picture -- looks like you've racked up a lot of friends quickly Sam. Nicely done.

I have just begun to focus a little on the facebook site as a client-getter.  Adding friends from the neighborhood affiliations, somewhat blindly but according to how old they look - i.e. older than 22.  It is somewhat awkward to add people as friends I don't even know or have a common friend with but it may change.  I also need to read up on the etiquette involved. Good luck.

Facebook is getting better for me.  Finding people, posting listings and got my first client today.  With very little effort it seems to be producing results already.

Hi Joseph,

What specifically worked in getting your first client?

Posted by Dan Weis, CincinnatiRealEstateGuy.com (Comey & Shepherd Realtors) about 10 years ago
Not really sure.  I simply posted my listings for sale in the market place and the buyer came knocking.  Since then, I also added the cribfinder widget just to see what kind of results it may bring.  I sent an invitation for you to view my facebook site via email.

I am happy to see this topic still building.  I posted my first video on FaceBook last night and I can already track click throughs from it...and we are talking about traffic in less than 16 hours of being online.
